At Samana, we believe surfing is more than a sport, it’s a practice of presence. Real progress doesn’t come only from improving technique or physical fitness, but from learning to work with the mind and emotions that arise in the water. Every wave invites us to face fear, excitement, frustration, and joy.
Through surf mental coaching, yoga, and mindful support, we help you understand this inner process and turn it into growth.

As a certified sport mental coach and a physiotherapist specialized in psychosomatic therapy, we bring both mental and physical awareness into the experience, offering personalized guidance tailored to each individual. When body, mind, and ocean begin to work together, surfing becomes not only easier, but deeply transformative, both on the waves and in life.

THE CORE ELEMENTS OF SURFING

MIND

Surfing happens 80% on a mental level, as the mind affects all the other core elements, such as: choice of surfboard & equipment, personal body control, spot checks, reading the waves & analyse the surf conditions. 

BODY

The body is the “engine” that allows us to connect our mind and the surfboard with the ocean. A fit and healthy body also provides us with a better mindset and the ability to make the most of our skills. 

OCEAN

The ocean is the natural environment for surfing, where the mind coordinates the body and the board. Among the four core elements, the ocean is the only one beyond our control. 

GEAR

The surfboard is the “vehicle” that connects mind and body with the ocean. A lot of knowledge and understanding about your gear also means more confidence in getting the best out of your surfing performance. 

WHAT WE OFFER

Professional surf lessons tailored to your level, with qualified and licensed instructors. We assess where you’re at, focus on where you want to be, and support you on your individual surfing journey. For each retreat, we carefully select trusted local surf schools to collaborate with, ensuring a safe and high-quality learning environment. Through video analysis and surf theory sessions, we help you better understand your technique and deepen your knowledge of the ocean. Beyond improving your skills, our aim is to support you in becoming a more confident and independent surfer.

SURF COACHING

Surf mental coaching goes beyond overcoming fear - it’s about rewiring your mindset, activating muscle memory to build new movement patterns, and creating strong neural pathways to support both your surfing and your life. Combined with practical surf coaching, it helps you grow mentally and physically, read the ocean more intuitively, and respond with greater confidence and flow. We always work within a safe and supportive environment, offering both group sessions and personalized 1:1 guidance to ensure you feel held, seen, and supported throughout the process.

SURF MENTAL COACHING

Rooted in the ancient yogic tradition and enriched with insights from physiotherapy, our yoga practice supports you on every level - body, mind, and spirit. We offer traditional Hatha Yoga, Yin Yoga, breathwork, and meditation as tools to guide you beyond the physical: into deeper awareness, inner balance, and peaceful presence within. Whether you're seeking physical strength, emotional release, or spiritual connection, our approach creates space for personal growth and transformation.

YOGA

We offer a range of training options and workshops to support your progress and deepen your self-awareness. On-land training and surfskate sessions help you build strength, refine your technique, and develop the body control needed for lasting improvement. Our nervous system regulation workshops highlight the importance of balancing action with rest and recovery. You’ll develop awareness of your state of activation and learn practical tools to regulate your nervous system, as well as your emotions and mindset for more ease and clarity both in the ocean and in your daily life.
